Summer Reading

Here I sit on the second day of July and I’m thinking, I’m about to be 40. I don’t feel it, I feel like 27.

So yesterday while in the city as the rain soaked into my leather loafers, I dipped into Amazon bookstore to get some relief from the rain, I realized why there are book stores still. Yeah it’s great getting your books online, but nothing beats a bookstore. It provides the feeling of when you were younger and went to a toy store. These generations coming will never know what it is to have a store dedicated just to you and your play and creativity. If capitalism really wanted to perpetuate its self longer it would have never let “Toy r Us” fail. However I digress from playing devils advocate in favor of capitalism.

I went through every isle and touched about 100 books before I settled on a few that I think will take me through the summer.

I got Women Who Run With the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes,Ph.D. The Art of Living by Epictetus. You are here by Thich Nhat Hanh. Woman Evolve by Shrah Jakes Roberts. Ther is a theme, and I guess it’s driven by the approaching “40”.

I got a new journal for the big birthday, well it was just an excuse to get another journal. I clearly have some ADHD tendencies with all the journals I buy, but none the less this one was cute.

I’m looking to reclaim that smile you see in the picture, I was not only smiling with my mouth, I was smiling in my heart and my eyes.

While strolling through the bookstore and flipping through a business book, the line said “true happiness only comes from true freedom”. I wish I remembered the author or the book. So freedom and happiness is my theme this summer.

What are you reading?
